AOC Haut-Médoc - Cru Bourgeois Supérieur

The wine of Château Cambon la Pelouse has long been an integral part of the history of Médoc wines. Land registry documents show that there have been vines on our land for centuries. With the vicissitudes of history (war, natural disaster), the vineyards of the Médoc have grown or shrunk over the centuries, but the land of Cambon has always been planted with vines.
The estate was taken over in 1996.
Since then, vine-growing methods have been shaken up, with a return to the traditions of the Médoc ( Guyot Double pruning, green harvesting work, ploughing of the soil, raised training wires, reduced yields). A large number of investments have also been made to endow the estate with a vat-house, maturing and storage cellars worthy of the Grands Crus Classés.
Our wine is quite modern in style, bearing all the marks of a prestige maturing process, but with enough body to take it. The flavour of the wines is close to that of Margaux (the Margaux appellation borders our land), with the emphasis more on flowers and fruit than on spices.
The grapes are picked when they reach perfect ripeness, giving a wine with a crimson red colour and a nicely developed, complex bouquet.
Our position in the south of the Médoc and our deep gravel soils combine to create an original take on the wines of the region.
Depending on the vintage, our wines will be at their best after 3 to 10 years, but the 1998, 2000 and 2002 can wait much longer.
